TOPIC: REPORTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE (CSA): A CROSS-NATIONAL STUDY OF IMPACTS OF SOCIO-LEGAL CULTURE AND INTERSECTIONALITY IN INDIA AND THE UK

Broad Themes (this is not an exhaustive list):

1. Power, Storytelling, and Speaking Out (for the first time) about CSA Experiences

2. Capital, Social Culture, and Secondary Victimisation by the Criminal Justice System

3. Role of Social Workers and Caregivers in Reporting CSA

4. Kinship, Family, Honor, and Reporting Incest involving Children

5. Identity, Disability, and Barriers to Reporting CSA

6. Child Victims, Intersectionality, and State Institutional Response to Reporting CSA

7. Institutional Child Sexual Abuse (such as care, health, religious, or academic setting)

Please send your abstract (around 350 words) by 25 April (Thursday) 2024 (with full name, profession, institutional affiliation, paper title) with the email subject ‘Abstract: CSA – India and the UK to: shailesh.kumar@rhul.ac.uk. We encourage CSA Survivors, Social Workers, Masters students, Doctoral researchers, and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to participate, and appreciate stories/ research works from any disciplinary and methodological perspective within Social Sciences and Humanities.

Paper (work in progress of around 3000 – 5000 words) Submission: 10 June (Monday) 2024

NOTE: Limited travel allowance would be available for doctoral researchers and ECRs from the UK & EU (Please include an expression of interest for travel support in your abstract submission).
